Dear Father and Mother, I (take) my pen in (hand) to write you a few lines to let you know how I am. I hant got nothing good to write to you only (that) we are all well and I hope these few lines will reach you and find you all well. I got a letter from Benjamin today and he is well and if you hant got no letters from him to know where he is, he is at Yorktown yet he wrote that he would come home in February if he could. I can't write much this time for my fingers is weak and my pen is bad. I have a fine daughter four weeks old. I want you to come and see me. I don't want you to think hard of me for not writing no more for I can't write much now. I thought I would let you (know) how I was. So I must quit for this time. So fare well.
