Dear Brother, I take my pen in hand to let you know that I am well and hearty. I received your kind letter the first of this instant and was glad to hear that you was well and a'doing well. I got a letter from your paw two or three days ago. They was all well but some of them had the diarrhea. They was a'getting better. I hant had a letter from Isabelle since the twenty sixth of June, but I heard from her day before yesterday. Her and William Henry was well and all the old neighbors (also). I would be glad to see you if I could. You wrote to me to write you all the news and all that I knew. I don't know much and I hant got much news to write to you only all the Covington girls are all about to get married. Miss Mary Heath and old man Huggins are married and old man Graham and Amy Brown are married and Cader Davis and Dilley Carrol, and I think Pace will be mad now (that) old man Graham is married. Daniel Graham is dead. We get tolerable plenty to eat. I have pulled so much of old buck (that) it has worn my teeth right smooth. You must not think hard of me for not writing to you sooner. You must write as soon as you get this letter. So nothing more at this time only, Remain Your Beloved Brother Until Death William H. Harden
to Mr. William D. Harrison
