Dear Father,
I seat myself this morning to drop you a few lines to inform you that I am in very good health at this time, hoping that these few lines may find you enjoying the same blessings of God. I received your fine letter ( unreadable, probably "and was glad to hear that you ) are well. I have nothing of importance to write to you at this time only all of the boys are well as common. You said Isabelle had gone to Vicksburg. I heard from her when she passed Pollard. She sent me word she was coming by to see me if she came back. You said that William Heath had died. I was very sorry to hear of his death. I want you to write to me where he died at. I was glad to hear that you were getting along with your farm work so well. I wish I could be at home to help you. You said you sent me a letter about the tenth of March but I (have) not got it yet. It is near time for drill.
I will close for this time. I want you to write soon and often and I will do the same. I still remain
Your True Son Until Death Wm D. Harrison to his Father J. C. Harrison
