   Dear Father,

I take the opportunity of writing you a few lines to let you know that I am well and I hope that these few lines may come safe to hand and find you all enjoying the same blessings of life.  I received a letter from you a few days ago and I was glad to hear that you was all well.  We are here at Pollard yet and I think we will remain here and if we do I want you to come to camp to see me if you can.  There's no chance for me to get a furlough.  I have not heard from Isabelle since I wrote to you before and I have not heard from Wm Harden since.  We are doing very well for something to eat.  We had a mess of roasting ears yesterday and a mess today and we expect to have some more tomorrow.  The health of the boys is all good except some few cases of the flu.  We have drawn pants at the present time but you may bring me a shirt when you come.  I have no news worth your attention only

I Remain Your Affectionate Son Until Death

(Letter to Martha on back)

Dear Sister,
I take the opportunity of writing you a few lines to let you know that I am well and I hope that these few lines may come safe to hand and find you enjoying the same blessings of life.  I have not got much to write to you, only I want to come home very bad.  We are doing very well for something to eat.  We get a-plenty and I don't think that we will have to go to Miss(issippi).  I have no more to write only I want you all to write to me.

I Remain Your Affectionate Brother Until Death
