   Dear Brother

I take my pen in hand to let you know that I am well and all of the rest of the family in hope that these few lines may come safe to hand and find you well and hearty.  I have no news to write to you at this time only father has gone to the salt works.  He started the 2nd of September.  I don't know when he will get back.  William and Isabelle came to see us the first of the month.  They was well and hearty.  They came up here to our protracted meeting.  We had one of the best meetings that you ever saw in your life.  I would (have) been glad if you could of been here to (have) went with us to (the) meeting.  It hit a week.  I want you to write to me whether you got the knife and shoestrings and letter that father sent by Dranking Ansly.  He said that he was going by to see you as he went back to camps.  Nothing more at present, only you must excuse bad writing and spelling for my light is dim.  I still remain

    Your Affectionate Sister Until Death
